Google’s Danny Sullivan confirms an algorithm update targeted at fighting spam is rolling out to search results. The rollout of the update will conclude today, June 23, 2021. A second spam update will follow next week.
Last week we saw a bunch of people notice that Google is showing a trending searches box on the Google Search home page. We saw this in the auto-complete results and in Google Discover results, but I don't think I've seen it as a standalone feature on the Google home page.
Google added a new keyboard shortcut to help users more quickly jump their cursor in the search entry box. If you do a search on Google.com and start typing afterward, Google will prompt you about this keyboard shortcut that reads "Press [/] to jump to the search box."
Whether mobile or desktop, global or local, Google is widely used by consumers. The search giant is the top referrer on the web, and search remains a reliable marketing channel for growing a business. Indeed, search overshadows the reach brands are able to get on social media platforms, by a significant margin.
